STAR Interview Prep Template

With the amount of times a recruiter has asked me to answer in STAR format, I always wished I had something visual to help me prepare. That being said, here is the visual aid template I've created to help you prepare a bit for your upcoming interviews!

What is STAR?

The STAR Interview Template provides a structured framework for effectively communicating your experiences and capabilities during interviews. By following this method, you can demonstrate your value to potential employers with clear, concise, and compelling responses to their questions. Use this template to prepare for your next interview and confidently sell yourself as the ideal candidate for the position.

S - Situation: Begin by setting the scene for the interviewer. Describe a specific situation or challenge you encountered in your previous role. Clearly outline the context, including the company, your position, and any relevant background information necessary for understanding the scenario.

T - Task: Next, outline the task or objective you were faced with within the given situation. What was expected of you? What goals or targets were you aiming to achieve? Clearly define the problem or opportunity that required your attention.

A - Action: Detail the actions you took to address the situation or accomplish the task at hand. This is your chance to showcase your skills, expertise, and decision-making abilities. Be sure to focus on your individual contributions and highlight any leadership or teamwork skills demonstrated during the process.

R - Result: Finally, discuss the results or outcomes of your actions. Quantify your achievements whenever possible and emphasize the positive impact you made on the situation or organization. Reflect on what you learned from the experience and how it has contributed to your personal and professional growth.
